A native of New Orleans, and a graduate of H. Sophie Newcomb College, Francis Devereax Jones has been described as a sculptor, craftsman, and decorator. She was a student of Howard Pyle and the sculptor Charles Grafly. She also studied in London. Later, she became an instructor at the Springside School in Philadelphia.
