Commentary: | “Trapper With Christmas Tree” is not the title written in the day book entry, but is the one by which the work is best known. The tobaggan featured in this painting was brought back from Canada by the artist and is among the ephemera in his studio in Wilmington, Delaware. The image was used in color on the Schoonovers’ Christmas card in 1923. |
